City of Grand Forks Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory Mapping

Year
2017-2018

EcoLogic was hired by the City of Grand Forks to complete Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory (SEI) Mapping of the municipality. The project included working with city staff to map the full extent of ecosystems in the city, classifying them by type and also categorizing ecosystems as sensitive, important, and not sensitive.

The final product described the types and extent of ecosystems found in the city that will be used by the planning department for ongoing decision-making for such things as their park acquisition plan and potentially leading to an environmental development permit area. It also provides some examples of conservation mapping (Habitat Suitability Mapping) using two locally occurring rare species, along with recommendations for future conservation actions.
