The Red Mountain Gold Mine is a proposed underground high-grade gold mine near Stewart, BC. EcoLogic was selected to manage the terrestrial portion of the environmental assessment, including performing a gap analysis of previous work, mapping regional and local soils and ecosystems, and conducting rare plant surveys. Field work was carried out with the guidance of members of the Nisga’a First Nation. We are working closely with the client and local First Nations to develop assessment procedures and methods, and are responsible for the environmental assessment for terrestrial ecosystems and terrain stability.
The Project involves documenting and assessing ecosystem function (including wetlands), impacts of the Project on these functions, and prescribing mitigation measures.
IDM’s application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate was accepted for formal review by the BC Environmental Assessment Office on October 24, 2017, and by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency on November 1, 2017.
On August 28, 2018, the BC Environmental Assessment Office completed its assessment; following the 45-day review period, the EAO issued an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Red Mountain Underground Gold Project effective October 5, 2018.
